It was a close call for the unit of Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 who has been busy shooting in Leicester, U.K when on Wednesday night a fire broke out in the hotel they were putting up. Hotel Sky Plaza was accommodating about 100 members of the film’s unit. The source of the fire was mysterious to both the Hotel and the police and they haven’t been able to zero in the cause till now.
An eye witness exclaimed the anguish of people when they had to immediately evacuate the hotel and did not even have enough time to collect their belongings. The fire was sudden and it created a great deal of havoc among those staying at the hotel. People had to wait for more than an hour before everything was restored back to normal. However the local police offered to be of great help for those who were losing their calm and dealt with them very patiently even offering them to stay at the police station till things normalize again.
It was about 4 AM when the Police decided to shift the crew to a local Salvation Army Community Centre since the weather outside was terribly cold. The entire cast had to spend their night at the said Community Centre till morning. The Deol brothers were kind enough to come pay a visit to them when they learnt of the mishap.
It was expected that the spirits of the crew would tone down and dampen after the harrowing incident but they rather took it in the right spirit and seemed more enthusiastic and upbeat to work and about life in general the next day. The police helped the crew to pack up their belongings from the hotel only by the noon next day. This refrained the crew from shooting that day as a large part of the working schedule had already passed. However Sunny Deol did not stay away from practicing his stunts under the able guidance of Peter Hein.
The fire wasn’t as ordinary after all as they caused a negative setback especially to Sunny and Bobby Deol because of the canceling of the club set which was constructed inside the campus of University of Leicester. The set was made for Indian fight teams as well as reputed stunt teams and managers from France and Hong Kong who were a part of the shooting schedule of the film.
