After opening to a somewhat disappointing opening day box office collections, English Vinglish saw a good growth on its second day. The Sridevi starrer had made 2.50 Crores on its opening day but picked up to an approx 4.8 Crores on its Day 2 at the domestic box office.
The movie also made about 2 Crores at the overseas box office. English Vinglish now stands at a domestic box office collection of 7.3 Crores and a worldwide box office collection of 9.3 Crores.
The movie had a slow start but seems positive reviews and word of mouth publicity has benefited the movie starting Day 2. If it was not for the stiff competition offered by OMG Oh My God!, English Vinglish could actually have done a lot better than this.
The growth on Day 2 implies both to singles screen theaters and multiplexes. Good Sunday collections will be essential to determine a good 1st weekend for the Sridevi starrer. As of now the movie looks set to make about 12 Crores plus on its 1st weekend at the domestic box office.
Will English Vinglish do a 2nd Barfi! we can’t help but wonder!
